The week of May 21st was equal parts work and play, with great weather and plenty of wind. We put all the new RC trailer gear through its paces—scoring transponders, flags, line cameras and NVR, LED scoreboards, and the RC dome. Facilities got some love too, with a new bathroom door, showers, hot water, and work starting on the shower deck and Camp Platform #3. Special thanks to Randy and his family for fitting doors, shoveling dirt, and pitching in wherever needed.

Mini-Max 2026 the following week was an inaugural event to remember. A surprise rainstorm gave us a scare, but the playa dried Thursday morning and 23 boats were ready to go. Practice kicked off after lunch with good air on the dry half of the lake. Day 1 delivered solid wind and 12 races—six for each fleet. Day 2 went the other direction with very light air, giving us just three races before noon and two that counted in the A/B format. The two-pilot teams were a hit—every boat came with a built-in pusher, and the off-duty pilots packed the finish line to cheer on their teammates. Off the course was just as good: great dinners, breakfast, a bonfire, and even a night sail. Hats off to everyone who toughed out the rain, and especially Randy, Loren, Tracey, and Scott E. for the invaluable help.

The week of July 20th was all work. Armed with a skid steer and jumping-jack compactor, we got the main entrance, container ramps, and dump station graded—almost professionally. The camera system was upgraded to feed live snapshots to the club site, new QR-code signage went up for waivers, memberships, and rentals, the bathroom got more ventilation, and the new platforms and shower deck were finished. By week's end it hit 100°, so naturally, the pool was officially broken in.

Wrong Side of the Tracks was regrettably canceled, but plenty of people are heading out anyway. I've scheduled a Fun Sail September 24–27, and if there's enough interest, we'll set marks for some scrub racing. Club boats will be rigged and ready for anyone who wants to learn. Pods are first come, first served—reserve online, bring some friends, and come sail.
