Rules of Conduct & Safety Policy

Jungo Land Sailing LLC – Nevada

Effective Date: January 1, 2025

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all Jungo Yacht Club (JYC) members, guests, and participants while operating or observing land-sailing activities on the Jungo Dry Lake and affiliated event sites. Safety, sportsmanship, and respect for the desert environment are the cornerstones of the Jungo Yacht Club.

1. General Conduct
  • Members, guests, and visitors must conduct themselves in a manner that upholds the values of safety, respect, and sportsmanship at all times.
  • Alcohol or drug use is strictly prohibited before or during the operation of any land-sailing craft.
  • Disorderly, reckless, or aggressive behavior will result in immediate suspension from club activities and possible termination of membership.
  • All members must sign the club's liability waiver before participating in any sailing or event.
  • Members shall follow all posted signage, marshal instructions, and designated course boundaries.
  • Respect the privacy, property, and equipment of others.
  • No harassment, discrimination, or intimidation of any kind will be tolerated.
2. Equipment & Vehicle Safety
  • Only wind-powered land-sailing vehicles may be operated unless otherwise approved by the Event Safety Officer.
  • Each yacht must be in sound mechanical condition, with functional steering and braking mechanisms.
  • Sails and rigging must be properly maintained and inspected before use.
  • Unsafe or damaged vehicles may be disqualified or prohibited at the discretion of event officials.
3. Personal Safety Equipment
  • Helmets, eye protection, and closed-toe footwear are mandatory.
  • Gloves, long sleeves, and long pants are strongly encouraged.
  • A phone or radio is recommended for emergency communication.
4. Operating Rules
  • Observe right-of-way: port tack yields to starboard; overtaking craft yield to forward craft.
  • Maintain 100 feet of clearance from spectators or structures.
  • Stop if instructed by marshals.
  • Do not operate under the influence or after dark without lighting and permission.
5. Site & Environmental Stewardship
  • Practice Leave No Trace.
  • Remove all trash and waste.
  • No dumping or washing on the playa.
  • Fires allowed only in approved pits.
  • Respect BLM regulations and closures.
6. Emergencies & Incident Reporting
  • A Safety Officer or Marshal will be present at official events.
  • Stop activity immediately in case of accident.
  • Render aid if qualified and contact emergency services.
  • All incidents must be reported within 24 hours.
7. Event-Specific Rules
  • Follow course layouts and attend mandatory safety briefings.
  • Only authorized vehicles and personnel may enter course areas.
  • Race officials may halt events due to unsafe conditions.
8. Membership Responsibilities
  • Members are responsible for their guests' compliance.
  • Repeated violations may result in expulsion.
  • Medical conditions affecting participation should be disclosed confidentially to club officers.
  • Dues must be paid in full prior to participation.
9. Liability & Acknowledgement
  • Members acknowledge that land sailing involves inherent risks.
  • Jungo Yacht Club and Jungo Land Sailing LLC assume no responsibility for personal injury, property damage, or loss.
  • Members participate voluntarily and should maintain personal insurance.
10. Enforcement
  • The Event Safety Officer and Club Directors have authority to enforce these rules.
  • Violations may result in suspension or removal.
  • Appeals may be submitted in writing within 30 days.
